RooCheck is run by a sole trader based in Queensland, Australia (ABN 69 349 922 117) (“RooCheck”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the RooCheck app and app.roocheck.com, why we collect it, and your choices. In short: we keep as little as we can, we never sell it, and your photos never leave your phone.
1. What we collect
Your account
- Your first name and email address.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash, so we can’t read it. If you sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook (when available), we receive your name, email address and an account ID from them, and no password.
- Your text size setting.
- When you agreed to the Terms of Use, and which version, so we have a record of it.
Your checklists
- What you put in your lists: names, descriptions, items, notes, ticks, the list type (e.g. Safety), and stars.
- If a list was copied from a manufacturer or community checklist, which one, e.g. “Jayco Swan · Safety”. We don’t keep a separate profile of your caravan.
Things you choose to send us or share
- Share links: when you share a copy of a list, we keep a copy of its name, description and items (and your notes, only if you choose to include them) for the life of the link.
- Community lists: when you share a list with the community, we keep its name, description, item wording, and the make and model you chose. Your notes, ticks and photos are never included.
- Reports: if you report a community list, we keep the report and any reason you give.
- Item suggestions: if you suggest an item for a manufacturer checklist, we keep the item wording, and your note only if you choose to include it.
- “RV or van not listed” requests: the make, model and notes you send.
- Support emails you send us.
Photos stay on your phone
- Photos you add to checklist items are saved only in the app’s private storage on your phone. They are never uploaded to RooCheck, synced or shared.
- They may be included in your phone’s own backups (e.g. iCloud or Google), which you control.
- The app asks for camera or photo library access only when you choose to add a photo.
Technical information
- Signed-in devices: a label for each device you’re signed in on, such as the phone’s model name (e.g. “Pixel 8”) or “Web browser”, so you can be signed out of them.
- Security records: to protect accounts and the service (for example, to stop repeated sign-in attempts), our servers briefly record internet (IP) addresses with requests.
- We don’t use advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
Payments
- RooCheck is currently free. If paid features are added, you’ll buy them through the App Store or Google Play.
- We’ll receive confirmation of your purchase, but never your card details.
2. How we use it
- To run RooCheck: your account, your lists, sharing and community lists.
- To keep accounts secure: sign-in, limiting repeated attempts, and detecting misuse.
- To send service emails, such as password reset links. We don’t send marketing emails without asking you first.
- To review community lists, reports and suggestions, and to improve the manufacturer checklists.
- To answer your questions and support requests.
3. Who can see it
- You. Your lists are private unless you share them.
- People you send a share link to. Anyone with the link can read the shared copy, and your first name, for 7 days. Up to 5 people can add their own copy. You can stop sharing at any time.
- Other RooCheck users, for community lists you share. Only the list’s name, description and item wording are shown, with no name or other detail about you. The RooCheck team checks each list before it’s published.
- The RooCheck team, where needed to run and support the service and to review community content.
- Our service providers, who process data for us:
- Render: hosting and database, with servers in Singapore.
- Resend: sends our emails, from the United States.
- Expo: delivers app updates, from the United States.
- Apple and Google: app stores, and sign-in if you use it.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Keeping it safe
- Connections: everything between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Passwords: stored as one-way hashes.
- Access: limited to people who need it, and admin access needs two-factor sign-in and is logged.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account and lists: until you delete them. Deleting your account (Account → Delete account, in the app or at app.roocheck.com) permanently removes your account, your lists, your share links, your community lists, your item suggestions and your reports straight away.
- Copies others already have: copies other people added from your share links or community lists stay in their accounts, with no link back to you.
- “RV or van not listed” requests: kept without your name, to help us add vehicles.
- Share links: stop working after 7 days and are then deleted.
- Security records and backups: kept for up to 30 days, then deleted.
6. Your choices and rights
- See and change your information: in the app. You can change your name, lists and settings at any time.
- Ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion: email support@roocheck.com, and we’ll respond within 30 days.
- Delete your account: at any time, from the Account page.
- Complaints: if you have a concern, please contact us first. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
7. Children
RooCheck is not intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
